Questions, answered short.
The ones we get before the first device is online. For everything else, the docs go deeper.
The app
Which boards work?
Thirteen today: the ESP32 family (ESP32, S2, S3, C3, C6), ESP8266, Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, MKR WiFi 1010, Nano 33 IoT, UNO WiFi Rev2 — and UNO, Nano, Mega through a Wi-Fi shield or a Bluetooth module (HC-05, HM-10). The full table is in Supported boards.
Do I need an account?
No. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi direct work with no account and no internet: your phone talks to the board. An account is for InstantIoT Cloud — control from anywhere, history, rules that run while the app is closed, notifications.
Cloud or Direct — which one?
Direct when the board is next to you: the bench, a robot, a lamp. Cloud when it isn’t, or when you want history and rules. Same app, same widgets, same sketch — one begin() line decides. A Direct project becomes a Cloud project when it earns it.
Does the app write my code?
It writes the sketch skeleton: every widget already wired to its signal, the connection handled by the library. You add what only you know — your pins, your sensors, your actions. You keep the firmware; nothing is hidden.
Is it free?
The Free plan is free for good: two boards, two automations, a week of history. Maker adds boards, rules, history and e-mails, monthly or yearly. Compare the plans.
What if I go over my plan?
Nothing is deleted. The boards and rules beyond the plan pause; the first ones keep running. Remove one, or come back to the plan that covers them, and everything is exactly as you left it.
Data and privacy
What do you collect?
An account (e-mail), your projects, your signals’ values when you use the Cloud, anonymous usage and crash diagnostics you can switch off. No advertising, no tracking, nothing sold. It’s all in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
From the app: Profile → Delete my account. Everything goes — projects, boards, history, the account itself. Details here.
Getting help
My board won’t connect.
Nine times out of ten: the serial monitor says why. Open it at 115200, reset the board, and read the lines after begin(). Then post them in the community with your board and link type — that’s the message that gets answered.
Where’s the source?
The Arduino library is open source: github.com/jeanloickdt/InstantIoT, with the wire protocol specification. The app and the Cloud are ours.
Still stuck? Support — the community for projects, e-mail for accounts.
